Olaf Lotze sensei - a German Shorinjiryu Kenkokan master visit

Praise be the Lord... Last Saturday (27/7) we have two special visitors to our humble little Shorinjiryu Kenkokan dojo. They are Germany's Shorinjiryu Kenkokan Shihan, Olaf Lotze, and Sandra Leoni. They actually visit Bandung while on vacation, so we are lucky to have them decided to come vist our dojo on their way to Sulawesi. Training was fun, we are taught details we missed while on practice, some quick reiho crash course (I didn't know Shorinjiryu has this many reiho procedures), and a lot of kihon training. While I was feeling unwell, I am forced to take it easy and not give my 100%, and I have regretted that already! While training with Olaf Lotze Shihan, I noticed that they are noticable differences between his teaching and our Shihan's (Hisataka Hiroshi). Later I found out that our Shihan's are based on Kaiso's teaching with little influence from So Shihan's improvements for Kenkokan. I am glad to have experienced the old and new! Should be fun,...

7 Penyakit Ahli Beladiri

Shorinjiryu Kenkokan Karate -- love at second punch!

It all began when I got a text from a friend of mine which sounded a bit like "Hey! There will be a Karate Instructor willing coming here on Saturday!" which got me all exited! I then spent 6 hours trying to figure out who and from what Ryuha he is. Late at night, I got a reply that stated that an instructor named Hisataka Hiroshi will be instructing. Without delay I then googled the name up and trying to find any information about him and whatever information correlated to him. Well, what I found is rather intriguing: an Okinawan Karate Instructor, holding 6th dan (later I found out, he is actually an 8th) with a surname similar to the founder of the style: Hisataka Kori , I'm guessing he is the grandson (and heard about it too!), but I haven't found any information to verify this. I tried to contact my karate friends, but all of them are too scared or embarrassed to come. So in the end I text-ed my Aikido buddies, and one of them is excited to come an...
